Back and forth
the ferryman goes
from south to north or
wherever the wind blows.
To and fro
present and past
does the ferryman go
where no memories lasts.
Up and down
between hope and fears
from town to town
the ferryman steers.
From west to east
towards the sun
the ferryman beast
is on the run.
From side to side
through endless bogs
his eternal ride
the ferryman slogs.
His old boat leak
and the road so long
his oars that squeak
but his mind is strong.
No time to waste
echoes through his head
by the devil he’s chased
and that drives him mad.
